Certifications can occasionally help us recognize whether a food is suitable for consumption. However, it is necessary to understand the principles of the various certification bodies.
There are several types of certifications that will assist the Muslim consumer in finding suitable foods.
Suitable for vegetarians
This type of certification is more commonly found in Asia and Europe. It is becoming more common in North America now.

Kosher
Jewish food laws resemble Islamic food laws very closely. We can use this similarity to our benefit to facilitate our search for suitable foods. There are however times when the principles of a given certifying body cast doubts into the suitability of the foods.
